Jane Stern Review: “…LobsterCraft is the place to head to for one of the area’s finest rolls.” CT Post 9/29/2019

By | Food for thought | No Comments

Another great review for LobsterCraft this time from local food critic Jane Stern after her visit to our Fairfield location. Check out the whole review here: https://www.ctinsider.com/living/ctpost/article/Jane-Stern-LobsterCraft-doesn-t-need-14472290.php?cmpid=gsa-ctpost-result&_ga=2.46091107.692895200.1569960975-158620461.1569275367

In addition to that great review, LobsterCraft picked up the win at the first Savor Lobster Event on September 22 put on by Town Vibe and hosted at the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium. “Best lobster taste” honors we’re bestowed by the judging committee, headed by local celebrity chef Matt Storch, and other esteemed judges. We featured our lobster crostini which is just one of the appetizers we have available on our catering menu. We’re way more than just lobster rolls! So let’s talk about creating a custom menu for your next private party or corporate event. Email us info@lobstercraft.com to discuss party plans!

As fall arrives, there’s nothing better than a hot buttered lobster roll paired with a cup of either our New England style Clam Chowder or our gluten free Lobster Bisque. Throw in some lobster Mac and Cheese as well and now you’re in comfort food heaven! Stay tuned for our fall/winter menu when we’ll add another soup into the rotation like our Oyster Stew. Captain Mike is still tinkering with recipes so it will be a week or two before we switch over.

South Norwalk Update

Well we hit the time warp known as “construction time” and “permit process” in Norwalk so we’re a bit off of our timeline.  11,514 permits later…  The good news is that we’re now back on track and looking at a full opening at the end of February/early March.  But, we’ll start previewing our award winning lobster rolls, soups, and Mac n Cheese there via the LobsterCraft Food Truck!  Friday, February 1 we’ll be working out of the truck right next to where our new restaurant will be at 24C Monroe Street in the historic South Norwalk Train Station (on the New Haven bound side) from 11:30am – 8pm.  Swing by, say hello, and head home with a couple of hot buttered lobster rolls!

And that’s a wrap for 2018!

that's a wrap for 2018

that’s a wrap for 2018

That’s a wrap for 2018!

Welcome to our last post of 2018!  As we wrap up our last dinner service for year  here in the LobsterCraft Kitchen Fairfield tonight, we want to pause and say thank to our customers new and old who between the Fairfield location and our catering services (Food Truck and Pop-up Kitchen), helped make 2018 our best year yet!  We’re blessed that we don’t just have customers but that we really have friends of LobsterCraft who enable us to do what we do by buying our food.  Captain Mike, Steve and the crew truly appreciate you!  We wish you and your families a happy, peaceful holiday season and a happy New Year!

We’ll be closed for vacation from December 23 through January 1, 2019.  We’ll reopen for our normal fall/winter hours on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.  Lot’s planned for next year so we’re looking forward to the break to re-charge, spend time with family, and maybe spend some time on the water for fun.  Running a small local business like LobsterCraft is a labor of love and we’re excited to keep growing next year and beyond.  South Norwalk should be up and running in January, it just depends on getting final permit sign-offs from the city of Norwalk.  Follow us on Facebook for the latest details and updates: http://www.facebook.com/lobstercraft

Private Party Booking for 2019

Thinking about booking the LobsterCraft Food Truck?  Awesome!  We love that idea too!  Our recommendation is for you to reach out to Steve at info@lobstercraft.com to lock in the date that you want.  We’re already fielding requests for proposals for graduation parties, birthday parties, and weddings in May, July, August, and September.  To hold a date, we require a $600 deposit so if you aren’t sure of the menu but are sure of the date, you may want to  locking it in with a deposit.  We typically courtesy hold a date for no more than 48 hours.

Book the Truck: Answers to Frequently Asked Catering Questions

By | Food for thought | No Comments

LobsterCraft enjoys creating a memorable impact for your guests while making it as easy as possible for you.   See below for answers to our top catering questions.

Can’t find the answer to your question?  Please send us an email through our Contact Us page and we will get right back to you!

What is the difference between Drop Off and Full-Service Catering?

Drop Off means LobsterCraft will arrive at a specific time, prepare the rolls, drop them off and then walk away.  Rolls are placed on large serving trays, which can be used by your serving teams.  We also offer our Lobster Bisque and Lobster Mac and Cheese.

Full-Service Catering means LobsterCraft will give your guests the full food truck experience.  We prepare the rolls and sides on demand then serve them out of the truck so no additional servers are required.

Generally speaking, full service is required for more than 25 guests.

How are rolls served to my guests?

Depending on the type of catering service (see above), our rolls are typically handed out one-at-a-time in “boats” (inside open disposable containers) or they are placed together on large serving trays.  We can work with you to create a more personalized presentation (i.e., logos, labels, etc.).  Please ask about this when you book your reservation.

Which rolls are included?

LobsterCraft has an award-winning menu of innovative, hand-crafted lobster rolls.  We are happy to serve the entire LobsterCraft menu (all 5 rolls) or provide a smaller choice to guests.  Please ask us about our popular side dishes as well: LobsterCraft Mac and Cheese, Lobster Bisque, and more!

How much time will LobsterCraft need?

When you book the truck, please select the time you want to start feeding guests.  The booking tool will hold the correct amount of time based on the event type you request.  LobsterCraft typically needs 2.5—3 hours of serving time.  This includes set up, serve time and clean up.   Drop Off Catering requires only 30 minutes.

Is LobsterCraft available for my event?  If so, how do I book the truck?

Here are the step-by-step instructions to book LobsterCraft for your event:

  1. Visit https://www.lobstercraft.com/catering
  2. Select Book Now next to your desired service type (Full-Service or Drop Off)
  3. Select your preferred date and start time of the event
  4. Enter your contact information and any event details/special requests, then select Book Appointment
  5. LobsterCraft will review your information and will reach out to finalize event details and pricing

If the time you desire is not visible, please try another date or time.

How much does it cost to have LobsterCraft cater my next event?

Pricing is based largely on the number of guests, travel time from South Norwalk, and the menu items you wish to serve.  For reference, Drop Off catering generally starts at $675 and Full-Service starts at $1,800 plus tax and gratuity.  Please book the truck and we will work with you to finalize the price.

Is a Deposit Required?  Will it be refunded if I cancel my event?

Once your event details and costs are discussed, LobsterCraft will send a contract for review.  In order fully commit the truck for your event, a deposit payment and contract approval are required.

Deposit refunds are provided assuming you provide written notice at least one week prior to the event. Generally speaking, if a cancellation is requested less than one week prior to the event, a deposit cannot be refunded.

What happens if the weather isn’t good?

Don’t worry!  LobsterCraft is able to serve in all weather types–and we are mobile!  If you need to relocate the event to accommodate your guests, let’s discuss.
